The operation of the electric windows is controlled by the main switch located in the master electric window switch. When the main switch is in the OFF position, only the driver's door window can be opened or closed. When the main switch is in the ON position, all windows can be opened or closed using either the master electric window switch or the window switches located inside the car doors. The driver's window switch features an automatic lowering mode, which can be activated by pressing the switch button to the second position.
The electric windows are driven by reversible motors, each of which is protected by a built-in circuit breaker. If the window switch is left on for too long (due to the window being obstructed or after reaching its upper or lower limit), the circuit breaker will disconnect the circuit, which will automatically reset after cooling down. When the ignition switch is in the RUN or START position, or after 10 minutes in the OFF position, the integrated controller supplies voltage to the coil of the electric window relay. The relay contacts close, allowing voltage to pass through to the main switch of the electric window and the window switch inside the door.
1. Driver's window: When the ignition switch is in the RUN or START position, voltage is channeled through the integrated controller to the electric window relay coil. The electric window relay contacts close, and voltage is directed to the driver's electric window switch. When the driver's side switch is adjusted to the Auto Down position, voltage flows through the driver's window switch to the electric window motor. As the motor rotates, the controller receives pulses from the input signal of the pulser. When the window is fully lowered, the motor stops, and the pulser no longer emits pulse signals. After the controller at the input end of the pulser senses this, voltage is no longer sent to the electric window motor.
2. Driver's side window: When the ignition switch is in the RUN or START position, or after 10 minutes in the OFF position, the integrated controller will activate the power window relay voltage. The relay contacts close, and the voltage is directed to the driver's side power window switch. When this switch is moved to the UP position, the voltage is sent to the main power window motor. The motor current passes through the driver's power window switch and returns through it. When the switch is held in the UP position, the power window motor continuously pushes the window up. When it is moved to the DOWN position, the direction of the voltage is reversed. When the DOWN button is held down, the motor moves the window down.
3. Passenger Window: After the ignition switch is turned from the RUN position to the OFF position for 10 minutes, voltage is transmitted from the integrated controller to the electric window relay coil. The electric window relay contacts close, supplying voltage to all window switches. When the main dashboard master switch is turned on, the passenger window can be controlled and operated by the door switch or the main dashboard. When the right front door window switch is adjusted to the UP position, voltage is directed to the right front electric window motor. The motor is grounded through the right front electric window switch and the main dashboard switch contacts, and the window ascends until the UP position is released. If the right front door window switch is adjusted to the DOWN position, voltage is directed in the opposite direction; the window descends until the DOWN position is released. The operation of other windows is similar.
